Triumph Tiger 800 XCx (2015) Updated
I can't speak as to comparisons with other XC's but for me the c model just made sense with the WP suspension and special mappings. This thing rails out of the box in a very surprising manner for such a large bike on such silly rubber. Really the only bad point of the bike outside of some of the plastic stuff doesn't impress close up but there are aftermarket alternatives .
I've ridden it 300 miles of 70/30 and so far in that hundred miles of off road I felt darned near as in control as I do on my YZ or XR over the same ride excepting slick clay mud from log trucks and grass.which made kitty want to either roll or take a nap due to the tires. Other than that it is as competent over loose terrain as it is tarmac and it represents a serious attempt by Triumph to upgrade an already successful ADV bike to something better.
UPDATE: 09/27/16..... Still feel this is a great effort on Triumph's part. I'm over 16,000 now and can't see that any other bike in it's class would fit me as well. Just needed a couple hundred bucks in aluminum protective and adaptive stuff and a couple of good tires. Been to 4 states so far and looking to add Canada and Mexico soon.- 3

KTM 950 Super Enduro R (2009) Updated
Still in honeymoon phase. Bike absolutely rips. An entirely new, raw experience compared to the R1200GS, and I'm still modding.- 2

Yamaha Super Tenere (2012) Updated
I've been riding for for about 28 years on many different genres of bikes - from dirt, to cruiser, to crotch rocket. I have to say, this bike is by far the best I have had the pleasure of owning and riding. It's versatility, quality, and capability coupled with it's reasonable price point make it a win win!- 61

Triumph Tiger 800 XC (2012) Updated
Great ride. Had a 2012 road that I started with and upgraded when I found a deal on a used XC. Larger front wheel and better suspension were huge. That said, the the stock suspension sucks for someone bigger than average. With some upgrades it has been a great dual sport and tourer.- 2

BMW R1200 GS LC (2014) Updated
Improved in all areas of performance and handling ..... Except - the combination of the lighter flywheel/crankshaft and wet clutch is going to take a looooong time to get used to.- 1

BMW R1200 GS Adventure (2011) Updated
Certainly the most reliable motorcycle I have ever owned. I have been to the Yukon, Baja, and everywhere in between without any issues. It has been my only mode of transportation for the past three years as until recently I didn't own a car.- 1

KTM 950 Super Enduro R (2009) Updated
The KTM 950R Super Enduro is to a BMW R1200GSA what a 250 Motocross bike is to a KLR650. If a 450 dirt bike was "the best dirt bike" and the R1200GSA was "the best Adventure bike" then the 950se is the perfect in-between bike. A dirt bike type weight with a 950cc motor makes this bike super versatile in most all terrain.- 10

BMW R1200 GS Adventure (2015) Updated
Superb long distance traveling GS. This 2014 R1200GS Adventure is thus far the most competent do it all motorcycle that I've owned. I have the opportunity to ride all models of BMW motorcycles on regular basis, and if I had to own one from the entire line up it would be this bike. 300+ mile fuel range, great rider protection, comfortable riding position and features such as cruse control, and adjustable windscreen while on the way are just a few of the redeeming qualities. It's a pleasure to ride no matter how far both paved and dirt. However, your perspective of this motorcycle will grow as your ride takes you further and further away home.- 0
