  2. I actually have the "Beyond Starbucks" sticker on my thermos and yes, I have filled it there. Gets interesting comments from the barristas who think it is an actual Starbucks promotion! Not too many GS guys out around here now....too wet and cold for them and I still haven't mounted my new tires so I'm stuck in our truck.

  3. Well deserved point. I was going to take a picture of the bike in front of SB's but there was a group of people and a van sitting in the primo unloading photo op spot. I was too ashamed of myself!!

  6. I'm not sure if my XRR fits the category, but she is my current Adventure bike. I use it mostly for single day outings and prefer to play race on fireroads, but it will also handle tight single track, though it is more work than my KTM 250. It is plated and I think it is the best big dual sport combination of light weight, good power, and reliability. It has mild engine mods and put down about 52HP at the rear wheel. I also have a Rekluse auto clutch and rear hand brake, which I think are some of the greatest accessories available. I also own a Suzuki SV1000 street bike, but am looking to trade for a large/midsize ADV bike. I am looking forward to seeing the new Honda 1000 twin and hoping Yamaha release a Tenere based on the FZ-07 engine. Nothing currently available really lights my fire?! Here is a pic of my XRR:

  7. I have to admit, I know I know I'm sure no one on this site would ever in a million years believe that I'd ride my clean bike on the street all day and stop at a Starbucks, but I did!! Here's how it played out, I had to go see some customers in the mountains today and figured what the hell, I might as well fire up the bike since it's pretty nice outside right? Turns out that it was a little chillier than I thought (as it can be this time of year at altitude) so I stopped by the Starbucks on I-70 in Dumont, CO on the way back and had a Hot Chocolate. Well, as I was pulling out with my head hung as low as possible without crashing there were 2 spotless GS 1200's all farked out with everything in the book pulling in. I just felt too damn clean and ashamed and thought to myself, I absolutely cannot and will not let myself or my new XLADV friends down. That being said, compounded by the fact that my snow and ice free days this year are unfortunately drawing near, I immediately raised my head up high, dumped the clutch, twisted the throttle to the stop, lifted the front tire off the ground and pointed that very sad 990 off-road to redeem myself! I didn't get much work done after that, but I did feel much better about myself and snuck one more great ride in this season!! My sincere apologies about the first half of my day!!

  9. It's a much slower handling(compared to 400cc bikes) and also no pumper on the carb. So you roll in the throttle and it's like a big diesel that keeps building speed vs an MX bike with a pumper that has a more explosive hit.

  10. @Rooster72- You did let them get a good look at your bruised crashbar on the way past hopefully , for posterity sake. I'm just as guilty for fueling up on caffeine to let the cowering masses try to figure out what the hell is that taking up a perfectly good parking space!

  12. biggest downside as an ADV bike is a week subframe. I had a set of soft side bags on mine that were great, but they held maybe 15L each and that was about the limit of the subframe. However they make great enduro/short range adv bikes. that

  13. I almost pulled the trigger on an XR650R to build out as an ADV bike. Some interesting ones out there like this...
