  1. It has issues, like any other bike. That's not the problem. The problem is a whole bunch of people that insist on defining this bike as some kind of special unicorn, when in fact it's the most common and uninteresting thing in motorcycling in a long time. (isn't it funny how magazines, unable to say anything great about it, were praising the fact that it's a "balanced" bike?).

  2. Drones are becoming a lot more popular so I thought it might be nice to have a place to talk about them. @OrangeBeast had me order him a DJI Mavic drone and I got to play with that a few times before he showed up. Unfortunately, he lost it in the jungle in Mexico or Guatemala recently Here's a story out about how a court struck down the FAA requirement that people register their drones with the government. I realize drones are becoming much more popular and people are doing stupid stuff with them but I typically prefer less regulation than more.

  3. If you're not fully in love with your BMW, you can always sell it and buy another BMW. I agree with Dragos, but I have to ask; Where were all these forums and social media outlets when I bought my brand new 1989 Honda Transalp??? Many moons ago I listened to these babbling forum feeders and passed on a deal on an 04 KTM 950. 3 or 4 weeks later I found it on eBay, called him up and bought it anyhow. On the way home all those comments lurked in the back of my head, "high strung, high maintenance, not refined, yada, yada..." I actually kind of babied it for a couple weeks then one day I just said F-it! I started hammering the crap out of it. 120,000 miles later, I still love it, I still beat it with zero regrets. Speaking of Honda's, I finally drug that Transalp out of Winter storage and rode it to work. It's old, old technology, seen better days, but it's still a pleasure to ride.

  4. So if a dealer presses it back in and it still fails and causes injury, does that drag the dealer into the lawsuit?

  5. Unfortunately we're limited here in the States. We can't fly drones in any national parks or monuments, many State parks and not within 5 miles of an airport.

  6. I fly a DJI Mavic Pro for work and it is awesome! I am going to take it to the beach and shoot some footage of the kids playing at the lake this summer. It is small enough to put in a back pack with an extra battery. It will be a go to for many in the off-road world. They have a new cheaper and smaller one called the Spark that looks cool as well. For many of us that already have a Go Pro, the KARMA is a cool machine and it includes a gimbal accessory so that you can hand hold for steady footage. Just check your local regulations before you take it out and get some videos on the site!

  9. Budget update... I have $2253 spent and $650 raised so a balance of -$1603. Hoping shirt sales (starting around July 17) will offset most of the rest but feel free to donate to the cause if you like PayPal to fudgypup at yahoo.com Thanks!

  10. You know, that might be why I wont pull the trigger on it. I have looked and looked at it. I have a 2014 BMW F800GSA, and I am wondering if I just get a suspension upgrade will I have a better bike?

  11. Well. I tried to use voice recognizing translator. Didn't work well though. But there are numbers. Something about 175-185kg. Wheelbase 1555cm. Something about the price of 9999 - 11500. Euros I guess. And sure the guys are super happy overall.

  12. I'm thinking more and more about it, and I don't want the Gaston replica style, its the wrong build of the bike to do this, if I'm going for a replica then with the right bike. Considering complete white (the cheapest solution). The neon orange dont allow me to wear my yellow MSR helmet, it just looks rediculous, also i want to put one or two stickers on the bike, but with that neon color it just looks weird. I like the simplicity of white, you can see this on @Eric Halls Bike with the sticker tuning it still looks amazing. @beemer bunny i hope its ok to delete Gaston from the list We'll see how long it will take me to act, probably I'm to lazy in the next weeks. ^^

  17. Fine with me 'cause I'm 193! I think everyone realizes this is just a concept bike and the real one they launch will be more ridable by the masses if also not more boring.

  18. Saw on old post from a fella that suggested applying baby powder to the boxer to find a source of the leak and yes I did! Two actually after I took a long ride and had it parked for about 10 minutes. One coming from the filler cap (slight sweat, could be just the o ring and also one at the head gasket. Looks like I'll be doing some more wrenching. Need to research some old R1100GS threads!

  19. Ok! Now, this makes everything clear. I won't be lying. I was a bit scared posting kinda raw research based on two different pictures, no matter I tried my best to scale them up to be as close as possible to real size. This is Adrien Van Beveren Official Yamaha Rider. Height: 187cm. Yes, that's an official information(https://www.yamaha-racing.com/dakar/teams/rider/adrien-van-beveren). We can clearly see that getting off the bike he can't reach the ground. I'm 186cm and I can reach the ground sitting on XT660Z. Though, it is still way too much for many riders who would love to buy Baby Tenere. That makes me feel that the work I've done comparing these two machines (dimensions-wise) is very close to being true. Even though I've never had a chance to see it or sit on that beautiful, well, horse. Coz she is definitely not a pony.

  22. We are 2 RTW riders who have been on the road for a year and a half having ridden through 27 countries and over 74,000 km. Our final destination includes riding across the world’s largest country. We have been looking forward to Russia for almost two years and would like you to join us. Why? Maybe you’ve always wanted to ride across Russia but don’t know anyone who can take the time to do it. Or maybe you think of safety in numbers, as we do. So why not join us? We are interested in riding the BAM road and the Road of Bones. You can ride along for both or either. If you’d like to learn more about us and what we can ride, please see our website at ridingfullcircle.com In return, we would like to know more about your experience levels and goals. Please contact us at [email protected] if you are interested in joining us or would like more information.

  23. More recon work on this from other forums and discovered a few tidbits... Interestingly, either BMW and/or their dealers (BMW Denver) seem to be nullifying warranty claims on this if the rider had risers and/or scratches on their crash bars (basically blaming the rider). Of course we all have seen how the bike are marketed (GS Trophy, BDR, etc...) Very interesting speculation on the reason why they changed the fork design was to save weight. Seems to be plausible. Save money too though? Perhaps. There's a "fix" being marketed for this problem called the BT Cycles Stanch Clamp. Link here. $147 And a graphic from inmate Brokein2 that offers his explanation for the forces causing the failure:
