This mirror is the product of much frustration- I spent years breaking other designs and wondering what was going on behind me on the road. Eventually, when I dropped my bike and found myself buying two(!) new master cylinders as a result, I decided it was time to make a really good mirror, one that would function well as a mirror, and also protect the bike (and me) from damage. I had three goals for my design: 1. That it work as well as an OEM mirror for seeing what was going on behind. 2. That it would be indestructible. It would have to give way in a crash to avoid damage not only to the mirror, but also to the bike. 3. That it could fold completely out of the way, so that when I am offroad, I don't have to think about it. Many experiments later, the mirrors for sale here is the result. Both models hit all three marks right on the nose. We use SAE spec glass to give maximum visibility (it can be important to distinguish Crown Victoria headlights from other vehicles!), it is made right here in Colorado Springs from a super tough nylon that we are so certain will survive we offer a lifetime warranty (on the housing, not the glass, but you can buy the glass seperately), and sure enough, it folds right down when you want it gone. If you're deciding between the Adventure model, and the Enduro, our advice is simple. If you plan to fold the mirror down a large percentage of the time, the Enduro is right for you. The long size means the head of the mirror tucks away right behind the headlight. If the mirror will more or less remain extended, get the Adventure- the more compact design is more stable at highway speeds. Either way, you can't go wrong.

The average person takes 0.5 to 1 full second to react to hazards. Traveling at 60 MPH, a rider will travel 25 to 50 feet before being able to properly react. Most OEM brake pedals have a single-positioned small footprint, yet most ADV riders substantially change foot positioning as they switch between standing and sitting. If your foot is not already situated correctly on the rear brake pedal, you are now potentially doubling reaction time and distance to make what could be a critical stop. This is why you see all motorcycle racers with 1 or 2 fingers on the front brake lever in photographs. AltRider has taken away this additional hazard with the patent pending DualControl Brake System. There are two parts to the AltRider DualControl Brake System that enhance control and reaction time; a riser and an enlarger plate. Riser When in a seated position, a rider’s bent knee naturally puts the angle of the foot pointed down 90 degrees from the lower leg, while a standing position creates a straighter leg and raises the angle of your foot to a more horizontal position. Using the OEM brake pedal, there is no way to keep the correct brake control position when both sitting and standing. With the AltRider enlarger and riser combined, there are now two levels in which to engage the rear brake, putting your foot in optimal position regardless of riding position. As every rider is different, there are two riser heights available depending on your riding style. For those needing additional customization, risers can also be swapped out. Install is easy, lights are very bright, some re-aiming of your reflector may be required, but dispersion appears to be very similar to regular DOT-spec Halogens. If $50 seems steep, consider that these have a lifetime guarantee, virtually never burn out, don't generate a LAMPF error, and a regular quality bulb will run you around $20.
