An event sounds good Eric. It's good time of the year to be out riding the desert. We are suppose to get a good amount of rain the forecasters say for next week!

2nd Annual Troy Meadows Lost for a Reason ride

What do you say about a Saturday day ride? That's all the time I have this weekend. What time is reveille at camp? I can ride up and meet at camp.

    Sequoia NF day ride

Posting up a few pictures from our ride on Sunday. Dusty and I did a 350 mile loop. We met at a Starbucks in La Canada around 6 am for coffee and were on the road before 7 am. We rode up CA HWY 2 to Angeles Forest HWY took the 14 North and got off at Jawbone Cyn. From there we rode County Roads, Forestry Roads, and with the absence of adult supervision to police us children we also rode a good amount of single tracks. Some basic ST Dusty about to cross the small ravine Couple of White Rhinos Some not so basic ST Time for a quick stop good looking giant It was a challenging and fun ride. We did't see a single other soul all day once we got up in the forest. I did't take pictures of the more gnarlier sections, but we rode on some off camber and steep tracks not much wider than the width of our tires.

    XLADV Project Bike: KTM 990

One of these Safari Tanks. 10.5 gallons http://safaritanksusa.com/product_info.php?products_id=21 I'd like that on my own regular 990 but this is kind of a show pony and I think it might change the look too much. Plus, it's not really in the budget
  7. Thank you Ken for the report, as always I take way too few pictures, and say way too little. But, this was a great overnighter. Ken riding down Mengel Pass. Striped Butte from the Geologist Cabin which by the way was unoccupied at that time. Striped Butte, Butte Valley.

What did YOU do on your bike today?

Replaced the Uni pre-filters on my GSA. Bike has about 8K miles on it with a fair amount of off pavement. I also looked inside the air box for the first time. It was as new clean inside the box. Cleaner than some of the street only GSs I've seen. You can pick those up from Touratech USA. this is the one for the new GS: http://www.touratech-usa.com/Store/3491/PN-045-0870/UNI-Air-Filter-Kit-BMW-R1200GS-ADV-2013-on-Water-Cooled I only use the pre-filters They used to sell them for the previous 1200s as well but I don't see them listed at their site anymore.

    Death Valley Feb 27-Mar 1

Good to see you Eric and Gregg! Here is my 2 cents for this ride. I left town with 5 other riders on Saturday morning after 7 am. We rode to Panamint Springs Resort, set up camp, had lunch and took off after 2 pm for a ride through Titus Canyon. We got back to camp around 7 pm. The next morning I rode with 3 others from PSR up and over Hunter Mountain Road, Hidden Valley, Race Track, Ubehebe, and back to camp.

What I LOVE about BMW (Motorrad)

The big GS motorcycles certainly keep getting better with time. The frame is stronger now than ever before, and the stock Dynamic ESA is much improved over the ESA on my previous 2011 GS offering better damping and bottoming resistance. The ride modes are a plus for dirt roads/tracks and on and on. But, yes it is not a step back in any way from it's predecessor.

    AltRider Skid Plates

This ALTRIDER skid plate for the current GS/A is definitely up to snuff. I'm racking up dings and scratches, and it holding up just fine and more importantly protecting the motorcycle. Superb fit and finish, and zero modifications were needed to the motorcycle.

    BMW R1200 GS Adventure (2015)

Superb long distance traveling GS. This 2014 R1200GS Adventure is thus far the most competent do it all motorcycle that I've owned. I have the opportunity to ride all models of BMW motorcycles on regular basis, and if I had to own one from the entire line up it would be this bike. 300+ mile fuel range, great rider protection, comfortable riding position and features such as cruse control, and adjustable windscreen while on the way are just a few of the redeeming qualities. It's a pleasure to ride no matter how far both paved and dirt. However, your perspective of this motorcycle will grow as your ride takes you further and further away home.

    Mitas E-09

Went out for a short ride to try the Mitas E09 Dakar rear tire. Nothing but positive to say about it. Tire offers higher degree of traction in both drive and stopping. Leaned over grip on faster sections is better than you would think just by looking at the shoulder of this tire. I hope to see them in a 170/60 17 size soon. The 150 rear leaves the bead of the rim well exposed.
