Biggest bike I have owned. After a year, I still find the big girl intimidating... but I'm learning and appreciating it more and more.
  4. Looking forward to trying these new Rally pegs from IMS Racing I got from Rottweiler Performance. IMS is also know for their aftermarket gas tanks (smaller bikes) as well as shift levers and more. I'll do a review of these and report back later. As I understand it, the benefits are these pegs won't dull like aluminum ones, don't require screwed in teeth that can break or get lost and are stronger so they won't leave you stranded should they strike a rock. The description from Rottweiler's site: The 'Rally' series pegs have slightly 'dulled' cleats that while offering better traction in wet environments, are not sharp to the touch. A great combination of superior boot traction and safety. Designed specifically for Adventure riders by Adventure riders, the IMS 'Rally' series pegs vastly improve comfort and handling and are one of the more aggressive platforms for KTM motorcycles with standard foot pegs (IE; not Super Duke or RC8 bikes). The large overall length and width enhances comfort and the benefits are felt navigating dirt roads and on long stretches of open roads. The platform spreads the boot contact patch and lessens stress on the feet, legs and hips. Using body English to change directions of a 500lb+ bike is vastly improved as the pegs add leverage. Leaning the bike over and pivoting from one turn to the next is more efficient while providing better control when riding off-road. Superior Comfort, Enhanced Leverage, Lifetime Warranty and built in the USA by off-road market leaders since 1976. Fits all KTM motorcycles that have moto style foot-pegs. (IE; not Super Duke or RC8 style street bikes) -5mm Down -5mm Back

The KTM 950R Super Enduro is to a BMW R1200GSA what a 250 Motocross bike is to a KLR650. If a 450 dirt bike was "the best dirt bike" and the R1200GSA was "the best Adventure bike" then the 950se is the perfect in-between bike. A dirt bike type weight with a 950cc motor makes this bike super versatile in most all terrain.

Great ride. Had a 2012 road that I started with and upgraded when I found a deal on a used XC. Larger front wheel and better suspension were huge. That said, the the stock suspension sucks for someone bigger than average. With some upgrades it has been a great dual sport and tourer.
  8. Hello, all. I own http://MotoReflective.com. Many of you already know us or have seen our products on the road. We've been making pre-cut reflective kits for saddlebags and top cases for more than 16 years. We're up to more than 80 Reflective Kits, and we have dozens more on our ToDo list. We're proud of our products, and the fact that we use only the highest quality 7-year/7-mil 3M retroreflective vinyl, and that our products are 100% Made in America, materials and labor. A lot of our kits are for BMW's because so many BMW's come with saddlebags. But we're starting to create kits for other brands as well. In fact, after the first of the year, we will be developing reflective kits for Touratech Luggage, and for the KTM1290 Adventure. Mostly new kits hinge on us getting our hands on a set of saddlebags for a few days, so we can do all of the prototype work needed to create a good-fitting kit. So if you're in SoCal and you've got a Tenere, or are expecting a new Africa Twin, we'd love to hear from you. For now, we'd like to share with you some of our BMW Reflective Kits, and show you our brand-new Reflective Kits for the Jesse Odyssey Luggage. Oh, and as a THANK YOU for having us on this discussion board, we'd like to offer everyone a 10% discount on any purchase at http://MotoReflective.com, through Christmas. Just type in the code XLADV in the coupon box at checkout, and you'll get 10% knocked right off the purchase price. WAIT! I have a better idea. Let's make it a full 20% OFF. And thanks again for having us here at XLADV. This may take more than one post, so please bear with us. There are going to be a LOT of photos. And if you don't see your Beemer covered here, (like if you have an F800GS or an Airhead GS, or maybe a previous year GS Adventure), check out the website. We've got many more kits there than we'll be able to show here. Let's start with the latest R1200GS-L/C. RK-36 fits the saddlebags of the R12GS-L/C Vario Cases. $29.95 RK-36X fits the saddlebag lids of the R12GS-L/C and not only looks good, but delivers outstanding lateral conspicuity. $29.95 Our basic kit for the R12GS ADV - L/C is the RK-38. Available in black or white reflective (both reflect back bright white). $29.95. Matching Top Case Kits are $19.95. If you just want reflective on the corners, to establish your bike's true width in traffic and take your rightful "lane presence," the following are our vertical corner kits. These fit all of the Adventure aluminum bags for all years, including the F800GS. They're available in Black Reflective (reflects white) and Red Reflective (reflects red). Again, matching top case kits are available as well. RK-40B Black Stripe Kit. $12.95 RK-40R Red Stripe Kit. RK-44B Black Chevron Kit. $12.95 RK-44R Red Chevron Kit. RK-46B Black Checkers Kit. $12.95 RK-46R Red Checkers Kit. The choices are varied, but the results are the same. You want to keep drivers off your backside. In street traffic. On the highway. When changing lanes. With these reflective kits and the others we offer, you can "Make Them Aware That You're There." Thank you for taking the time to look. Next, we'll show our new Reflective Kits for the Jesse Odyssey Bags.
  9. I know that there are purpose built, slick siphoning kits that you can buy that allow you to transfer fuel bike-to-bike, but here's a cheap & effective alternative for your DIY'ers. Note: if your fuel tank has a screen in the filler cap hole that is not removable, this technique will not work as the donor bike. Materials List 1. Fuel line hose (I prefer clear). 2. A small shop rag. You'll need to make two lines; one long enough to reach from bike-to-bike, all the way to the bottom of the fuel tank on the donor bike. 4-5' is should be sufficient. The other hose only needs to be about 1.5' long. How to Use 1. Insert one end of the longer hose into each motorcycle gas tank. 2. Insert the shorter hose into the tank of the donor bike. It does not need to be deep into the tank. A few inches is adequate. 3. Use the small shop towel to create a seal around the two hoses that have been inserted into the donor bike's tank at the tank's filler hole rim. 4. With your hand securing the towel to maintain a seal, blow strongly into the shorter hose. This will create positive pressure into the donor bike's fuel tank, forcing fuel to escape to the recipient motorcycle. You may have to plug the hole with your tongue and blow more than once to get the fuel to being flowing. Once the fuel beings to flow, it will continue to do so because of the vacuum that you've created. However, gravity is in effect, so the further the recipient tank is below the donor tank the better. To stop the flow, simply remove the long line from contact with the fuel on the donor bike. This kit is cheap to make, easy to use & store, and best of all, no risk of fuel coming in contact with your mouth.

Details: New wider seat to help keep comfortable on that long commute or dual sport ride. The added width and foam density will help keep the seat from being an item to stop you from going on that ride or enjoying the bike. The new V2 version is redesigned with a sleeker design and more room at the front before it gets wide. There is less slope into the tank in this model also. Fits Models: KTM 950 KTM 990 Notes: This seat shares the comfortable shape of our low seat but now available 1.5 inches taller than the KTM flat seat. Standard density is good for riders weighing 160 - 250 lbs. Softer or firmer foam available on request for no extra charge. This is the TALL seat - - - - - Important Information: Kit purchase is only for the COVER and FOAM for OEM pan. It DOES NOT include the pan. The Complete Seat option comes with kit mounted on aftermarket pan and ready to ride. We'll install it for you: If you want us to install the cover on your seat pan for you, please ship your seat pan to us after you make your purchase. You will also need to select the 'Installation' Category on the Category Menu on the left, then click on 'Seat Installation' and add that to your cart before you checkout. The charge is $20.00 for us to install the cover on your seat pan for you.

The AltRider Side Stand Foot provides your bike with a larger footprint, so it can easily keep it from sinking into soft ground. Made from hefty 1/8 inch stainless steel, this foot features a 3D tread that echoes the aggressive AltRider Oil Cooler Guard design, while providing traction for your boots. It is the most ergonomic design on the market, allowing easy deployment of the side stand while still on the bike. The AltRider foot also clamps down on the actual foot of the side stand with Torx fasteners, which means the piece will remain tight even after months of use. No more rattling or stripped fasteners.

Set your Adventure 950 / 990 free from it's short leash. Introducing the 'Rottweiler Performance Endurocell' extended range fuel cell. Fitting perfectly in the exact same circular space the left hand muffler once occupied (see our single side out muffler options) guarantees that this fuel cell will not clash with your aftermarket pannier system. As an added bonus, the optional Quick Detach hardware kit will give your Endurcell the ability to be removed by hand in less than 10 seconds so its not hanging around when not needed or to help fill a buddy. NOTE: The Endurocell requires an SSO (Single Side Out) muffler system. This is a kit that converts your dual muffler system into a 'Y' pipe out the right hand side of the bike. If you do not already have one, see the options to add on below or see here. Rottweiler Performance fabricates hands down the absolute highest quality 'Y' pipe SSO systems available for the 950 / 990 KTM Adventure. Add 35-50 miles to your ride within a 10 second attachment. (With Quick Disconnect Kit) Two sizes available: 1 gallon (3.79L) or 1.3 gallon (4.92L) Made in the U.S.A. and beautifully ARC welded by hand by skilled craftsman. Easier than your stock fuel tank to fill. No tiny fuel caps in strange places. Stainless hardware Ties into your lower crossover fuel line with a check valve. No back flowing or messy fill ups. Everything you need to easily complete the installation included. Nothing left out. No removal of any main fuel tank. Just drop the skid pan, turn off the spigots on the stock tank and splice in the barbed 'T' fitting. Build your own Endurocell! Listed below are your options with explanation. Endurocell Capacity: Available in two sizes, 1 gallon (3.79L) or 1.3 gallon (4.92L). Choose between a smaller package, or a longer range. Quick Disconnect: Add a Quick Disconnect hardware kit to your Endurocell. Remove it when it's not needed in under 10 seconds, use it to help fuel a buddy, or leave it disconnected as a 'reserve capacity' tank for emergencies only. A billet fuel line stow perfectly holds the dry break fuel line clean of any dirt or debris when not in use. Fuel cap filter: Add a fuel filter at the cap to keep dirt or debris from entering the fuel tank. If you get dirty, you'll want this. Just pull it inside out and smack it around to clean it. BRP Fuel Cap: Your Endurocell comes with a perfectly good cap, but a beautiful BRP billet fuel cap adds that nice final touch that looks trick. Single Side Out Exhaust: Auxiliary fuel cells require the conversion to a single side out exhaust system. Rottweiler offers the finest range of SSO 'Y' pipes and mufflers. See here for more information. NOTE: The first run of Rottweiler Performance Endurocells are being fabricated on a limited first run basis. All sales are first come, first served. If you purchase an Endurocell after they have run out, you have the choice of being early in line for the second run or a full refund. Second run fabrication may be 2 to 3 weeks behind the last sold first run unit.

I've been riding for for about 28 years on many different genres of bikes - from dirt, to cruiser, to crotch rocket. I have to say, this bike is by far the best I have had the pleasure of owning and riding. It's versatility, quality, and capability coupled with it's reasonable price point make it a win win!

  16. Picked up an AltRider Rear Brake Master Cylinder Guard for the KTM 1190 Adventure / R , and an AltRider Side Stand Foot for the KTM 1190 Adventure / R today at the EuroMoto 2015 today. Was able to call in and order them ahead of time and have them bring them to the show to avoid shipping. Thanks Altrider! Always a pleasure to deal with. The rear master cylinder guard looks like this... And the side stand foot like this... I didn't get home in time to install them today. But hopefully I'll get a few minutes tomorrow, as I don't think it'll take that long. However I'm throwing a 5th birthday party for my son... So who knows. All that aside, when I get it done, I'll post up some pics and initial thoughts. Then return after some thorough use and review it again. Currently I'm already running their bash plate and rear racks. Suppose I should get some good pics of those as well. So far so good with them. I'll say a little more once I get a couple pics up. If anyone else is running Altrider kit and would like to contribute, by all means, jump in and get after it! *Just to clarify, I have zero afiliation with Altrider other than enjoying they're hard parts and 2013 and 2014 Hoh rallies.

This "cotton reel" is a combination of protection for the swingarm area and lift point. Installed simply to the existing mount points on the swingarm.

I love my BMW GS Adv. 'Nuff said. Best fun on two wheels since I had a sport bike. If anything my first thought when I bought it, as I rode away from the dealer, was "So THIS is what I'm missing out on."... Life is just different. And now my ZX10r sits in the garage, a proper race queen, having served me reliably for 27,000 miles... My GSA is not only my daily commute but my escape as well.
  19. I saw a similar video for the Tenere 660 and since that bike isn't sold in the US and the GS/GSA is and have sold quite a few, I thought I'd do a similar video. The things I go over in this video really apply to just about any adventure bike. The key issue here for a lot of riders is what exactly do I need to do to my bike to outfit it for off-road riding? When I started out I had absolutely no clue and unfortunately wasted some time and even more money figuring all this out. I figure I can use my experience to save you money I have to say though that I honestly didn't know how much I'd enjoy riding my bike off-road when I first bought it. I figured it was just a means to an end, not an end in and of itself. However, these bikes don't exactly come dirt-ready off the showroom floor. There are some things you should do right away, some things before others given their importance and of course some things you really don't need to do. We've all seen that shiny sparkly bike at Starbucks all farkled up and you just know that thing has never seen anything more adventurous than a gutter in front of its driveway. Don't be that guy! The other thread here "Post your gear questions here" is more for the apparel side. This is the bike part of that same set of questions. I know it's long but if you're new to adventure riding or an experienced rider looking to explore more dirt, I think you'll find it helpful.

The rear section of the front fender is not long enough to effectively keep road debris off the exhaust and front of the engine. The Wunderlich fender extender solves this problem effectively and elegantly. Made of tough ABS plastic the extender attaches to the original fender with stainless steel screws which are of course included.

Touratech developed this windscreen adjustment design in 2005 for their Desierto fairings. This method was tested on the YAMAHA Super Tenere when the bike was released in 2010 and resulted in increased comfort for the rider. The ingenious and simple arrangement of hand-tightened knobs allows infinite windscreen adjustments. For example you might place the windscreen upward and forward for longer trips. Moving the screen forward allows some air to come in below the windscreen, smoothing the turbulence around the rider's head noticably. In this way your motorcycle behaves as if it has a larger windscreen, without disturbing the appearance of the bike. As an added bonus, our design includes a GPS mounting bar to position your Touratech GPS mount over the motorcycle's gauges in the line-of-sight. > Easy installation > Adjustable in height and angle > Provides GPS mounting location > Integrates with stock Yamaha windshield > Fits Yamaha Super Tenere XT1200Z up to 2013 > Does NOT fit 2014 and newer models
