I have done almost everything with that bike. Long distance Trip? Done. Short weekend trip? Done. OffRoad? Done. Extreme Offroad? Done. RaceTrack? Done. City run? Done. And it shines on all and every aspect of motorcycling. Low fuel consumption (given it's weight and power), awesome torque, handling on pavement is just awesome, offroad handling is not that great, but once you get used to the telelever shit... it will bring you anywhere no matter what. So far, If I had to buy another motorcycle today.... i would buy exactly the same bike. :) -

Great price and custom-made due to my old-school SW Mototech crashbars not being compatible with any serious bashplates on the market today. HE did an awesome job of custom-fabbing this bash plate and center stand plate, knocking it out on a Sunday. It's 3.5mm aluminum and unfortunately uses the 2nd gen OEM mounting system (far superior to the original), but has absorbed all kinds of damage and impacts without shearing the mount bolts like the wimpy stock plate did. Superb long distance traveling GS. This 2014 R1200GS Adventure is thus far the most competent do it all motorcycle that I've owned. I have the opportunity to ride all models of BMW motorcycles on regular basis, and if I had to own one from the entire line up it would be this bike. 300+ mile fuel range, great rider protection, comfortable riding position and features such as cruse control, and adjustable windscreen while on the way are just a few of the redeeming qualities. It's a pleasure to ride no matter how far both paved and dirt. However, your perspective of this motorcycle will grow as your ride takes you further and further away home. -

he X-Head DOHC is designed to protect more of the cylinder head surface than any other guard in the event of a fall. Even if it gets away from you in the driveway, the inertia will cause the bike to roll onto the face of the cover before the bike settles down on the bottom of the cylinder. When off-road riding, X-Heads work together with crash bars to prevent damage from rocks that can get past the bars. Behind the tough nylon shell is a thick rubber liner that helps absorb impact force against the cylinder. Included are stainless steel bolts with Nyloc threadlock patches so they stay tight. X-Head DOHC protects while letting just enough of the new head shape to show through. They fit with the following crash bars: BMW OEM; Adventure Designs BMW crash bar extensions; Touratech; Hepco Becker; SW Motech; ALT Rider. Does not fit Z-Tecknik bars. The rule of thumb is: if your bars fit with BMW's OEM cylinder guards, they will fit with X-Head DOHC. X-Head DOHC fits all Dual Overhead Cam engines, including the 2014 R1200R and R nineT. -

Improved in all areas of performance and handling ..... Except - the combination of the lighter flywheel/crankshaft and wet clutch is going to take a looooong time to get used to.
