GoldenTyre is an Italian brand that's very successful in Enduro (the whole RedBull Romaniacs podium used GT tires, and also lots of wins at Erzberg) and is putting out some very interesting Adventure tires. I recently put a set of GT201 tires on my 1190 Adv R and I'm quite happy with them. They also have in their offer a very interesting Rally tire (GT 723) which just now became available in tubeless sizes suitable for the KTM 1190 Adventure R and the new Africa Twin: https://www.facebook.com/GoldenTyreWorld/posts/1201557823197337 If you check their catalogue (http://www.goldentyre.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Catalogo_2015_2.pdf), at page 4 you'll see they're also available for 19/17 Adventure bikes. If anyone has experience with them, please share. Only thing I found is an older review:

    Great ride. Had a 2012 road that I started with and upgraded when I found a deal on a used XC. Larger front wheel and better suspension were huge. That said, the the stock suspension sucks for someone bigger than average. With some upgrades it has been a great dual sport and tourer.

    I love my BMW GS Adv. 'Nuff said. Best fun on two wheels since I had a sport bike. If anything my first thought when I bought it, as I rode away from the dealer, was "So THIS is what I'm missing out on."... Life is just different. And now my ZX10r sits in the garage, a proper race queen, having served me reliably for 27,000 miles... My GSA is not only my daily commute but my escape as well.

    KTM 1190 Adventure R (2016)


    Man... I wanted this to be a 5* bike, but I can only give it a 4* rating. Suspension is holding it back... I bought this bike to replace my 2008 R1200GSA as a more streetable bike than my 2009 KTM 950 Super Enduro. It is that... for sure. It has WP suspension similar to my 950, but it has nearly 4 inches less travel. There is not much adjustment... I have tweaked it a lot... and just can't get it right. Other than that, this bike is GREAT. Ergos are great. Power is amazing. Neat machine.

    The KTM 950R Super Enduro is to a BMW R1200GSA what a 250 Motocross bike is to a KLR650. If a 450 dirt bike was "the best dirt bike" and the R1200GSA was "the best Adventure bike" then the 950se is the perfect in-between bike. A dirt bike type weight with a 950cc motor makes this bike super versatile in most all terrain.
  17. Everyone likes a tire thread, huh? I saw these new tires from Michelin a few years ago and they've finally made it to the US. Dimitrios did a review already you should check out but what's interesting is he reports something like 9,000 miles on his rear tire (and still going?). I heard elsewhere reports of 6,000 miles, 7,000 miles and another that said "expect double the life of a TKC-80." What's interesting is a guy today on Facebook's "BMW R1200 GS Adventure (motorcycle)" page claims to have only gotten 1,000 miles so far and "the rear is about half done... I think 2k is going to be the limit." I spoke to another guy who tested these and he's not willing to go on the record yet but his feedback was "love the tires but they don't last as long as I thought." I don't doubt Michelin makes a great tire either but I'm wondering how many real life riders are going to see such high mileage numbers? What I'd love to see is some more reviews from you riders on what your experience is? I'm about done with my second set of the Vee Rubber VRM 401's so maybe I'll order a set of the new Anakee Wild's and tell you for myself.
