Welcome to XLADV! We are a community of big-bike adventure enthusiasts who like to ride, share and learn more about what we love doing so much. It's been said there are three things people love about riding big bikes: the riding itself is a blast; the places they get to see; and the people they get to meet along the way. It is our hope that you will share those experiences here with others.
Big bikes differ in many ways from smaller ones. Sure, they’re heavier, more difficult to handle and most definitely more expensive. But they’re also better suited for long distances, can eliminate the need for a truck/trailer to explore local trails and can carry a more gear -- even your significant other! While there’s nothing wrong with the smaller bikes, these differences are why XLADV is all about just the bigger (~600+ cc’s, ~400+ lbs) bikes. You already “get” that and will find others XLADV riders do too.
Aside from the size of the bike, the tone of XLADV is what sets it apart from other online spaces. This will not be a place where any bike gets bashed, large or small. This will not be a place where one person’s opinion will dominate the discussion. This will not be a place to discuss various current events, politics, or style of beer. This will also not be a place where people feel it’s okay to annoy people they don’t like or belittle those they disagree with. Places that allow that kind of tone do not attract the XLADV rider. Because of that, XLADV will not appeal to everyone.
XLADV is not “another online forum;” it’s a community first and foremost. It’s a more engaging experience technologically. It’s a more rich experience editorially (check out our Blogs, Articles and Reviews sections).
