Guest beemer bunny Posted August 28, 2017 Report Share Posted August 28, 2017 Decided I didn't want to bother riding and traveling with a tank bag anymore. No matter how well designed they are, I find them to always more or less be in the way. And a nuisance to remove and put back on everytime you need to tank the bike. I used to ride (and still have) an Enduristan tank bag. Best one I ever had. And 100% waterproof too, without the need of a cover. I installed a Pelican case on my bike, right behind me. It opens facing forward, so I can easily grab stuff in it (camera, maps, etc.) without needing to dismount, remains waterproof despite the holes done to mount it on the Black Dog Cycle Works Helo Pad and can be padlocked. An additional toolbox was added this weekend, to relocate all the tools and parts currently in the Pelican case. I am just missing the tyre irons and bead breaker (Motion Pro) which have just been ordered. I changed all the crap nuts that came with it and replaced them with the self-locking type. No need for Loctite that way. No risk of losing them eventually. And no need to bother checking them all the time... Don't understand why it doesn't come with those right from the start. I also had to replace the screws, as they were not the all the same type - and then they wonder why they have problems... Sigh. The only piece of motorcycle related equipment that will remain in the Pelican case is a small air compressor/inflator, as this will be used on a regular base during next year's trip. I have an AirMan now, which works really well. But ideally, I'd like to find something smaller. So I am on the hunt for another.
