Planning thread!

Ride last year was a lot of fun.

Camping at Panamint Springs Resort.  Starbucks riders can reserve hotel rooms ;)  They also have tent cabins available with cots that are nice.  I just camp in my own tent because I'm a man.   :)

We will probably do food like last time.  Chili and beer most likely.  Details to follow.

Swag if I can get any :)

This was the last time we saw Ken Mooty, so this year will be in his honor.

I'm planning to be there as well. It lines up well with the RawHyde event just next door. I'm coming from Oregon, through Nevada.

Yes, the RawHyde event will be nearby in Ballarat the following weekend.  I'll also be going to that to cover it for XLADV.  Hope to meet you there!

We are going to be using a new (to us) online event registration service for this event. You may have heard of EventBrite and the AMA? They kind of have this thing figured out ;) And you can rest assured the money's going to keep trails open and motorcyclists represented in DC. I will have a link shortly.

In terms of food options, I'm considering bringing food like last year but up it a notch or two. Chili w/salad, fruit and cookies then pulled pork with veggies and cookies for dessert. And beer, of course. We'll throw in some bottled water too. Guessing cost will be $40. That registers you for the event, covers your two dinners and provides us some event insurance (always a smart thing).

Probably but then we're on dual sport motorcycles :)  They get rain out there this time of year and roads get closed mostly to RV's and rental cars but not us.  We will have to watch our speed and be on the lookout for wash outs/vados.

Eric, are you going to be posting any GPS routes for this trip?

I will post tracks soon.

Tracks are up!

Please download and use these in your GPS.  Adventure riding means putting on your big boy/girl panties and learning to use GPS.  It can help you avoid getting lost too!Tr

Never mind... I got it.

These road closures have zero effect on us.  Since we're on motorcycles with off road tires, we'll be fine.  We'll just use extra caution.  Most of this will be cleaned up in the next three weeks too, so I doubt there will be a lot of evidence of it.  Titus canyon might be a bit more loose than usual, but we'll be fine.  They just close the road if a Prius or RV cannot do it.
