Administrators Eric Hall Posted February 25, 2016 Administrators My Rides (3) Report Share Posted February 25, 2016 ACD Racing has a new skid plate out for the GS/GSA LC models. I know Isaac Feliu swears by this skid plate. Two of our AZ members have them too and I've heard good things. From what I've seen, ACD appears to be the more affordable yet still well designed plate compared to say, AltRider or Black Dog. This is now on their US website for sale Noteworthy: Skid plate attaches to frame, not engine. They have a contact form on their site where you can send them a message. They're also on Facebook.
RogersW Posted March 1, 2016 My Rides (2) Report Share Posted March 1, 2016 I think Altrider has the patent on the center stand mount? Would that prevent this great looking plate from the US?

RogersW Posted March 31, 2016 My Rides (2) Report Share Posted March 31, 2016 I can't decide if I want to try this product. From what it looks like the front mount is only supported by one bolt!! One big hit like I took in Death Valley would snap that thing right in half. My Altrider plate keeps taking hits and still protects my bike like new
Administrators Eric Hall Posted April 1, 2016 Author Administrators My Rides (3) Report Share Posted April 1, 2016 I would stick with the AltRider one if you have no complaints. Those are very well made too. We're going to try this one out on Rich's GSA and see how it goes.

RogersW Posted April 7, 2016 My Rides (2) Report Share Posted April 7, 2016 (edited) Can you show the front bolts? I feel like they're weak. That's my only concern. I'm interested in ACD's plate only because the Altrider version is a pain to do oil changes with. Edited April 7, 2016 by Rogers

RogersW Posted April 7, 2016 My Rides (2) Report Share Posted April 7, 2016 Looking forward to a review. As on now I'm not liking those two bolts. I'm 240lbs and I bottom out my skid plate all the time. Thanks Eric!
Administrators Eric Hall Posted April 8, 2016 Author Administrators My Rides (3) Report Share Posted April 8, 2016 Looking forward to a review. As on now I'm not liking those two bolts. I'm 240lbs and I bottom out my skid plate all the time. Thanks Eric! You know what dawned on me one day about skid plates? Once I upgraded my suspension, I never bottomed out again! The old GSA with the fancy BDCW skid plate and TFX Suspension and now the project 990 with the BDCW skid plate and Konflict Suspension have NEVER touched ground to skid plate. Dr. XLADV thinks your bottoming out is a symptom of inadequate suspension.
Administrators Eric Hall Posted April 8, 2016 Author Administrators My Rides (3) Report Share Posted April 8, 2016 And here's the installation video. Really easy. 1 hour. Clean. Well designed. Sturdy. Mounts to frame, not engine.
