I was short on time so didn’t ride skyline dr in canyon city.

It seems like a big-bike paradise (Utah may be a favorite for that) as long as you can stay out of the deeper sand. I helped plan the NV BDR and noticed that's not far from the northern route. Have you done that yet? Also, do you have any kind of satellite tracking device like a Zoleo, Spot or InReach? I'd hate to get stuck out on one of those two track trails. They sponsored our recent High Sierra rally and most of us got to try them out. I reported my experience here. Have you posted that video at the Harley Davidson Pan America Adventure Touring group on Facebook? Not sure if this is a one-off or more common but first year models typically have some bugs to work out and the GS was no exception (electronics, clutch, frame, struts, etc..). I didn't even know there was a Harley Pan America group on Facebook. Thanks for the suggestion. I knew going into it that there would likely be issues. I wasn't prepared for being bike less for so long. The only other problems I know of is my buddy's bike, and the suspension faults out all the time, and the bike drops to the frame. So it sounded like the suspension problems are pretty standard, and there is some updated servo to fix it. But I haven't heard of other engine issues. I intended on going to the High Sierra Rally this year as a part of an extensive two-week trip. But the bike started acting up long before I made it there. Hopefully, next year, the Rally looks incredible. I got to explore some of that area in 2019 at the Noobs rally on my Super Tenere.

I've only ridden portions of the NV BDR. You would think in a place like Northern Nevada. There would be more riders. But the general population is riding Harleys on the Street and Side by Sides in the Desert. So I end up going alone quite a bit off-road anyways. I generally take it on in small chunks—no Satellite tracking device. Luckily, the majority of Northern Nevada has excellent cell coverage. You do find dead spots but are few and far between. I try not to take too many chances and hope for the best.
