  1. Hi Guys. Thanks for having me. You know, every once in a while, I see dual sport guys talking bout "big bikes" etc.. Then I figure out they're talking about 650's or a particular 690, or maybe even a F800... Then I hop on my R1200GSA and scurry along. This is a totally different ball game. and Thanks for bringing XLADV.com. My name is Mike. I live in the Bay Area, Northern California. You may ( mostly not) see me lurking the BARF or ADVRider.com as 'myblunt'. I look forward to hanging out 'round these parts. Below - Overlooking Mono Lake from Cottonwood Canyon Rd, South of Bodie.

  2. Greetings from Yuma AZ, Land of year round riding, if you can stand the heat. Just up graded from 09 KLR 650 (30k) to 14 Tiger Explorer XC. Looking for tips and ideas, as I prep for my retirement ride around the USA and Canada (five years away). Hello to all, and ride safe.

  4. Welcome! Great bike there! I have ridden up near Bodie many times too. It can get pretty soft in parts!

  6. Today we firmed up the schedule for some new rubber (tkc70's). Figured since she's gonna be in the shop, I'd put in for the last few bits of the 6k service to be done by the dealer... computer time, (health check, software updates...) and a brake system flush (6,000mile maintenance). Now 'bout that brake flush, I'm just being lazy...

  7. Went 'real' offroad riding for the first time with Hyperion today ! What a delightfull bike, his weight doesn't bother me at all. And that boxerengine, amazing ! I have Heidenau K60 Scout on him as roadtyre, but it is okay for modest offroading too. He slipped and slided a bit, but not the same as my first courses with the Dakar... You just put this R1100GS in second gear, and he pulls himself out of the mud. Okay given, the ground beneath the mud was solid... otherwise, the Heidenau's wouldn't have done the job.
