  1. Hi, I am interested in getting back into BMW ownership. I found a nice looking, clean R1150GS with about 55k miles on it locally. It has handguards, heated grips and panniers (nothing fancy, black plastic) and looks to be in good shape. The price is right, but I haven't owned a Beemer in over 20 years and that was an early 80's model. What are some the primary concerns or things I should look at? I plan to ride it a lot, and would like some insight into the longevity of the beast. I will hit some minor trails, but I prefer the standard style riding position to the cruiser style. I do ride off road on dedicated machines, so this won't be my only ride.

  2. Hi Guys. Thanks for having me. You know, every once in a while, I see dual sport guys talking bout "big bikes" etc.. Then I figure out they're talking about 650's or a particular 690, or maybe even a F800... Then I hop on my R1200GSA and scurry along. This is a totally different ball game. and Thanks for bringing XLADV.com. My name is Mike. I live in the Bay Area, Northern California. You may ( mostly not) see me lurking the BARF or ADVRider.com as 'myblunt'. I look forward to hanging out 'round these parts. Below - Overlooking Mono Lake from Cottonwood Canyon Rd, South of Bodie.

  3. I have them on my KTM 1190. I got them because they tuck in close. So far they've been great and I don't have any complaints. I've dropped my bike several times and they have no problem handling the abuse, still in tact and straight. I haven't got the luggage yet, I'm still deciding on hard or soft bags, but I'm sure I'll eventually get both. I saw a pretty good luggage test on YouTube and they got a good rating. It's an interesting video, look for it, they submerge the boxes, toss them off a cliff, spray water and I don't remember what else.

  5. Welcome! Great bike there! I have ridden up near Bodie many times too. It can get pretty soft in parts!
