  1. So we are busy riding from Argentina to Alaska at the moment, we are two doctors so we are doing it for MSF (Doctors without borders). The video below was taken on the Carretera Austral, in Southern Chile, a legendary road in the adventure motorcycling world. We got stuck behind some cattle on the bikes and this was the result, just a bit of fun. The video was recorded with a GoPro Hero 3+ Black edition and the audio was done with a Sena 20S bluetooth intercom and a Sena GoPro pack. This amazing piece of equipment records all your helmet audio, including your conversations, directly over the video, its a GREAT toy---

  2. I'd like this thread to be a place where we can put videos of big bikes being ridden well. Videos you look at and you're like "wow, I wish I could ride like that!" Something like this... or

  3. If you check the XLADV site calendar you'll see I have a trip scheduled for 12/26-31 to Baja Norte. Intermediate and above only; prior Baja experience preferred. $20 fee to me because I'm poor right now. You can do a similar two day trip w/BMW of Escondido for around $400 I budget around $70/day for food, gas, hotel and beer. Must have Mexican insurance printed and with you prior to departure. I use Bajabound.com. Must have passport, bike in good working condition, fresh knobbies, tools, spares, patches, pumps, etc... Because it's so cheap, we aren't camping so don't pack any of that unless you're camping on your own. I bring a few pairs of socks, shirts, underwear, flip flops and shorts, toiletries and that's it. NO hard panniers. At this point we have: Me @SeaWolfe Mike Mark Erik @Tomek S Plan is: Day 1: San Felipe (Kiki's) Day 2: Bahia de Los Angeles (Costa del Sol) Day 3: Catavina (Hotel Mision) Day 4: El Rosario (Hotel Baja Cactus) Day 5: Erendira (Coyote Cal's) Tracks attached (may change)

  4. Really diggin' on the new XC. But, not enough to sell my 2013. But, I am a bit jelious of a few upgrades, namely the suspension. Best handling bike on the planet? Not sure about that, but it makes for a good headline.

  5. It sure is nice to have a place to call our own, isn't it? First, I'd like to thank each and every new member of this site for your participation. Communities like this only thrive when people such as yourselves, all rock stars in the world of big bike adventure, choose to play a part. This is not "Eric's site." It's YOUR site. YOU are what is going to make XLADV an interesting place to be. Next, I'd like to thank the leadership team from Thumpertalk for believing in this concept and taking the time to invest in this online adventure. When I first discovered Thumpertalk about two years ago after purchasing a KTM 500 EXC, I was amazed at not only how large and vibrant it was, but also with the technological capabilities and the look/feel/usability of the site. It was at that point I asked myself: "I wonder why there's no big bike counterpart to Thumpertalk?" And here were are! As far as where to go after that, it's really even hard to get my head around because there just is SO MUCH still to come. I'll be sounding off soon enough in some articles, product reviews, upcoming events, new site features and just general big bike stuff. Feel free to reach out for any issues/questions you may have and I will do my best to see how they can best be addressed. Still miles of undiscovered open roads to explore...

  6. Eric, we're jazzed to see where this goes! I'm looking forward to helping you create a resource that is fun, valuable, and with a high standard in terms of code of conduct. And, as long time dirtbiker turned ADV nOOb, I look forward to learning a lot from everyone and hopefully increasing my circle of riding buddies.
