Administrators Eric Hall Posted May 15, 2018 Administrators My Rides (3) Report Share Posted May 15, 2018 @David Petersen put this interesting video together on how you can convert your tube type rear rim to a tubeless set up. I think it's a great idea given 99% of my flats are rear flats and a plug solution is a 10 min stop vs 45 min (if you're good) for a tubed tire fix.
Apexfiend
My brother and I just did something similar on our Africa Twins, it was a great improvement. I have a tire pressure monitor on mine, the tire temps are about 10-15 degrees cooler than they were with tubes. We ride hard and worked the bikes hard over rocks and horrible dirt roads all the way to Flagstaff from Phoenix without any issues.
PeteN95
Hmmm, I just put a tube in my tubeless front tire on my V-strom because I keep denting the rim and blowing the bead off, even with 35psi? Seems to work and in WA I'm not worried about temp. Edited October 15, 2019 by PeteN95
