  1. Great thanks for the insight Ron. Missed you at the last High Sierra ride too! Greg

  2. Last winter we rode the entire route, including the Sec 7 Alt. and yes, it's billed as a winter route, but not this winter! Hunter, back side of Cerro Gordo and Sec 7 Alt as mentioned earlier will all be snowed in for awhile. Yes, we had jeep support (the beers were cold, the dinners were amazing). But, we needed it so the film crew could charge camera batteries and off load data at night. (the only downside was the generator on the jeep would run late into the night on a few occasions.) Everyone carried their own camping gear and food for breakfast and lunches. We filmed the 1st of April and we hit temps about 95 the first day, and about 100 in Death Valley, but the week before the weather would have been about 15 degrees cooler. Just can never tell if a High Pressure system will move in and heat things up after March. We took 8 days but we were going slow filming. You can easily do it much faster. Ron

  3. Hey guys! This past weekend we had a blast here in Spain, on a very famous enduro race "BasellaRace1". This year, they organized a small big bikes race. It has been sooo fun!!! On this video you can see me racing my F800GS and ending 3rd overall. I was very exhausted because before that race I was doing the full 70kms enduro course (about 50 miles of enduro) with the same f800gs (yeah, not the proper bike...), but anyway, Happy with the result and I hope you enjoy the video! Cheers!

  4. Let’s be honest. There really wasn’t much Dakar to taste here. I’ve attended the last 3 years and although the newer location in Goldpoint is much better, the structure of the event provides zero “rally”components. Like I said the current venue is super cool, the terrain is great and it draws a group of really cool people. But it is pretty pricy for what really amounts to 1 day of riding on mostly maintained roads. The Cycle World Rally down in Julian was more of a taste with its team based structure, waypoints, and point scoring system. (Oh and don’t forget the bottomless sand) And it was dirt cheap for two VERY full days of riding, printed maps & navigation aid books. Alt Rider’s event has a TON of potential but misses the mark a bit for me. So all in all, I won’t be super disappointed to get my refund for this years event.

  6. Yeah Hunter Mountain is 50/50. Wyman/Silver Canyon peaks at 10k’ and there’s just no way. They used my Wyman Canyon tracks, btw

  7. Snow could be an issue further north. I would hate to bypass the red lines, unless they are not doable on a big bike. I am up for two 3-day rides. Ride-1 Yuma to Beatty. Ride-2 Benton to Beatty. Ride-1 February 23rd and Ride-2 mid to late April or May. The midway point might need to change since it looks like it goes through Titus Canyon (one-way).
