  2. Getting excited for the Rally! Here's an update... Suspension sent off to @KONFLICT MOTORSPORTS but Alex is too busy this week attending a certain rally we were invited then un-invited to attend (it's okay; Honda loves us!) but I should have them back in a week or two. He's going to basically refresh them which I'm not really sure what that means but he's the expert. Bike is being held up by the center stand and a five gallon bucket which I'm sure is really bothering my neighbor, Mrs. Kravitz. Tires are all set to go from Motoz but still on the fence whether I go with mousse or this new TubeSaddle solution. @brian.havoc1, Casey Hilliard and Poncho all say "mousse" so I'm waiting to see if I can get some of those from Motoz (they make them too). Nav equipment is all set and worked well in July's training. Need to get insurance and paperwork ready. We'll be camping in each bivouac so I'll have that gear as well. Bike got some last minute oil leaks fixed and a new chain at ILM a few weeks ago. Matt and Tim are too busy to check out this thread though

  3. Well guys my bike is ready but medical issues have put this ride off for another year. I'll reopen this thread when I'm prepped for next year. What a shame! I'm pretty pissed off and bummed that it did not work out. The Beta was really looking good. Bought a new clutch basket, plates, new tires, tools all put together, clothing, backpack, upgraded my SPOT 2 the a Gen 3, etc. All was not a loss though. The experience of prepping, route planning, lodging, and knowing what to do will carry over to next season when I'm feeling better. Other good news is being able to use this setup on some shorter 2 day rides throughout the next season.

  4. So I posted a video on our Facebook page and some how Drift Innovation sees it. They contact me and we chatted a little bit. They understand the adventure riding community loves action cams and wants to try and get more involved in our market. We chatted a bit more and I explained it was a rough bunch to try and win over but that in all we are a bit dodgy and rough around the edges but very lovable and worth the effort. We have been using DRIFT since they launched a few years ago and it's a damn fine camera. Never had any issues and you don't need a bag of fittings as per the other famous brand. And it is much more discreet than having a brick on your helmet. And some other benefits which I wrote about in this article. http://www.pikipiki.co.za/drift-hd-ghost-action-camera/ And so after even more chatting, they offered a 10% discount on any of their items on their website for our bunch of adventure seekers. Use the code PIKIPIKI01 when you buy. PS: We are not sponsored by Drift and will receive a bit of beer money from each sale.

  6. Hi there, my name is Ryan Turner, longtime fan of XLADV'a Social Media feeds. I am pretty new to the online Forum format. I ride a 2016 KTM690 Enduro R mostly, as well as a YZ450F. I am interested in Group Rides, Dual Sport & Adventure Riding Events, Rallys etc... I ride just about every weekend and look forward to getting more involved with the extended Two-Wheeled Community. (I also sell beer for a living so I'm always packing cold hoppy refreshments) Stoked to be here, Cheers! Instagram: @eat_sleep_moto_beer

  7. Stay tuned guys. I'm planning a North/South Rim loop focusing on the North Rim. I'm hoping to be leaving in late September. Right now it's in the planning stage. I'm looking at about 1200 miles and 6 days at this point. Mostly paved and some of the cool fire roads on the North side. I just ordered up some Butler Maps and looking at lodging. This will be motel camping off my Beta.

  8. Hi everyone! I've been reading these pages for a while (and enjoying the myriad of Instagram pictures) and thought it's high time I actually said hello and got involved. I live in Portland, Oregon, and ride a Ducati Multistrada Enduro. I'm fairly new to the dedicated adventure riding side of things - mostly on road for the last 22 years - and now that I've got the most ADV capable offering from Ducati, in my garage, I've been getting out and thoroughly enjoying this other side of two wheeled paradise. Attached, is a picture of my steed at High Rock at the Mt. Hood National Forest, about 5000' elevation. Cheers! Shahin

  9. You can also raise the front end the redneck way by stacking the rear wheel and another something light onto the rear rack. Ummmmm that's what I was told because I would never attempt something like that If you have garage rafters a simple tie down works perfectly well too
