  1. So I ordered the Wolfman Rocky Mountain Saddle Bags yesterday and I haven't had the rack on since the showroom floor. Now that they're installed again, I realize they won't work with the bags.. [IMG] My question is, I don't have any metal work experience, can I just have someone weld up some pieces to complete the rectangular shape? Is this metal workable? I'm tight on cash and buying a new rack system won't fly with the wife right now. That curve shape isn't going to work as a mounting point. What I was thinking is have someone weld up some pieces make it a even surface to mount the bag on. If I do that, guess I can never use hard cases. Any other suggestions? Maybe put some type of safety kit between the wolfman bag and that space?

  3. I'm sure Nate will do this more justice than me, but I did put together this short video to give you an idea of this forest fire drama we encountered on our way from Darby to Pierce. At first it was like no big deal, it's a control burn, firefighters are on scene... and then became obvious it was just a regular out of control forest fire; the kind you do NOT want to be anywhere around!

  4. Trip looks like it was awesome! Now that you've run several of the BDR routes, you might need to rate them against each other for difficulty/scenery/etc.

  8. Some brief video of the new project 990 on the IDBDR! The bike was unbelievable! It's hard to say which after-market parts were the "most important" because they all played a critical role. I'm tempted to say it's the suspension from Konflict and the performance items from Rottweiler and maybe the seat from Seat Concepts (4292 miles!) but honestly they all made this trip much more enjoyable. I can finally weight my pegs (Black Dog), which made cornering much easier. I can stand comfortably and thus maneuver the bike effectively (Renthal, RoxSpeedFx). Check it out!

  9. After a hole in our last trip. I'm ready. Bought an ACD "RACING" Skid Plate. Hopefully makes the bike faster. We will be headed out for a little ride from Las Vegas to Jackson, WY for the Dirty Heads concert. Then north to Yellowstone and Teton national parks.

  10. Well, I'm happy to report the black powder coat has held up when skid plate was thrown around the garage during install. I'll keep you updated NavyNuke. TOStester, my wife knows your right. We've done all our preparation and ready to ROLL EARLY IN THE A.M. and as luck would have it...I was called into work tomorrow!!!!!!!! I began pacing around the house chanting the battle cry for this trip, "DirtyHeads or Bust!" Late start for me & Wifey!!!

  11. It definitely will "make the bike faster" -- as all farkles do. Farkles cost money thereby making the wallet lighter thereby increasing the power to weight ratio

  12. These things are great, let me know how the black finish holds up. I bought the silver one because i didn't want to see the black sandblasted off after a year in some places but not others.
