  1. Hello, This is Omid from Dubai on an oil cooled 2013 R1200GSA (the better GS! ) Exploring this region on two wheels one weekend at a time. We have many off road tracks here in UAE and Oman. Some sandy some rocky, some just maintained hard pack. I do lot's of off roading on my GSA and yes sometimes I just go to starbucks on it some photos of what we do: https://goo.gl/photos/A6LmniwdNnhjEnNw9

  2. Dragos here, saying hello from Romania, Europe (hey, this is where RedBull Romaniacs is happening!!) Mostly a "weekend warrior" on my KTM 1190 Adventure R, exploring Romania both on street and off it, with the occasional European tour when time permits. After some struggle with mud: Forest road: Mountain road close to Bran, Romania: Another forest road: Mountain road: Touring Transylvania (mostly offroad) with the wife:

  3. Hello, everyone. I'm happy to find this site, I was redirected from ThumperTalk, but I think this site is what I'm looking for. A little about myself...I consider myself an experienced rider. I started on Dirt Bikes at age 12 and have progressed through Sport Bikes, and now I'm on my second Harley Touring Bike. I'm looking to combine my two interest (outdoors/camping and motorcycling) by adding an Adventure/Touring bike. I'll post in the Adv/Touring section with more detail. Again, Hello to all.

  5. I have a 13 Tiger 800XC. With the stock tires, awesome on the pavement and plenty capable on dirt roads or even off-road if you have good throttle control, you're "gingerly" on your line changes, and know how to pick your lines. Spoon on some knobbies and it's a hoot off-road w/o killing use on the road. I can't say that I have any real whines about my Tiger save a tranny part that failed, fixed under warranty, and Triumph has updated the part that failed. So, I expect it to be a non-issue. I'm a long time dirt bike guy, so used to riding technical terrain and honestly, the Tiger does pretty well, even when the pace is pretty brisk. The seat is comfy and the engine is great for the road. Of the three bikes listed, the Tiger is very much the best at doing street and dirt well.

  6. Eric i guess already you have liked some of my posts on instagram. My id is: bigobikerboy Even though we have so much sand I haven't seen many people ride with a big bike in the sand. I do it time to time but it's mostly play ground of dirt bikers with 450 motocross bikes. Most of our off roading happens in the mountains and dirt tracks. Some of them quiet rocky or loose gravel because here we have countless wadis (valley in Arabic) which are mostly seasonal rivers. The closest thing to death valley. And the reason most people ride on street tires here is mostly lack of bike shops with plenty of tire choices or the riders just don't undrestand the concept of knobies because of lack of experience maybe

  7. I get why you like those GoldenTyre GT201's now with that 150 hp bike you probably go through tires quickly

  8. I'm jealous of all the fun terrain you get to ride there! Are you on Instagram? I follow a few big bike groups from Dubai on there. I'm amazed at how much sand you have there but I see so many bikes with street tires. Get some knobbies! [emoji23]

  9. Agree on all points @Eric Hall - and to be honest the suspension in Nita's F650GS Twin left a lot to be desired from the get-go. My stock suspension was getting pretty soft after 30000km no matter what I did. For sure, the suspension upgrade was a game-changer.

  10. Sad news... we rode into Death Valley in similar conditions and it was overwhelming - even being prepared. The heat there is unrelenting. I feel for this guy - just an awful way to go.

  11. No doubt the heat was a factor. Scary. Steve, Tony and I rode this rode right after taste of Dakar. First time for all of us riding this road. Very sandy and washy, to some rough gravel sections. Can be deceiving & must stay alert. Heart goes out to the family.
